Our New Unit: Journeys

Hi Parents!

We are well under way with our new Unit of Inquiry Journeys and the children are eager and excited to tell us all about the places they have been to or are going to go to! This Unit is a fun way to get us talking about the summer holidays and where  we will be going when school is finished. Again, if you have been on a recent holiday and have any souvenirs, photos etc... please send them in with your child so he or she can share with the class.
Another exciting thing we will be starting is Travel Bear and Larry the Leprechaun.

Kinder B and L will be sending home Travel Bear with the children. Whatever you do as a family, make sure Travel Bear is there too! You take pictures and include them in the diary provided or have your child draw and/or write what they did with him while they had him at home. Please keep Travel Bear for 2 nights, then return him to school so the next child can take him home. There are a few Travel Bear Diaries here at school if you would like to take a peek and see what other parents have done in the past years.

Kinder G is sending home Larry the leprechaun who came with Ms. Aiveen from Ireland. He wants to see what the boys’ and girls’ lives are like here in Rome.
He will be taking a journey home with your child overnight to be a part of ordinary family life. He would love to take part in some activities with you and your child – anything from a trip to the supermarket, playground, a day at the beach, playing a game your child likes, baking a cake or joining in on a family dinner. He will bring his digital camera (please keep it safe for us!) while staying in your house. The children will look at the photos on our interactive whiteboard. The visit gives your child a great opportunity to share their pastimes and daily routine with the kids in their class. It is a great confidence builder and a useful tool to develop oral language stills.

Field Trip Photos 2012

Good Morning Everyone!

A little late coming, but here is a sneak peek at a few of the photos from our field trip to the " Orto Botanico" in Trastevere. The children had a wonderful time and so did the teachers!
